2025 RIDER INFO: Wormhole 100K & 50K – This Saturday!

Hi Wormhole Riders,

The big day is almost here! We’re excited to welcome you to the second annual Wormhole Mountain Bike Race this Saturday, May 3rd. Whether you’re going big with the 100K or keeping it spicy with the 50K, you're in for some of the best—and most rugged—backcountry singletrack in Virginia.

Expect long climbs, remote trails, good people, and a finish line that feels very well-earned.

Check out the website for more information

RACE DAY ESSENTIALS

WEATHER:
Forecast looks decent, but it’s spring in the mountains—things can change fast. Come prepared for anything. A light jacket is a good idea.

  • Friday: 5:00–8:00 PM at Thunder Bridge Campground (recommended)

  • Saturday:

    • 100K: 6:00–6:45 AM

    • 50K: 7:30–8:30 AM

START TIMES:

  • 100K starts at 7:00 AM

  • 50K starts at 9:00 AM

Everyone must check in Saturday morning—even if you picked up your number on Friday night. This is how we track who is on course.

CAMPING INFO

Your entry includes free field camping Friday and Saturday nights at:

Thunder Bridge Campground
1425 Arnolds Valley Rd
Natural Bridge Station, VA

Check-in begins Friday at 3:00 PM. Please vacate by Sunday at 2:00 PM.

Reserved a private site? You’ll get a separate email. Want to upgrade? Contact us—only a few left.

BREAKFAST & COFFEE – RIDERS ONLY

We’ll have light breakfast and fresh coffee starting at 6:00 AM Saturday.
Bagels, danishes, and caffeine to get you moving—available only to registered riders.

COURSE & SAFETY REMINDERS

Some of the course uses open public roads—follow Virginia traffic laws.
The trails are shared with the public—please be courteous and help us protect future permits.

Start/Finish is at Thunder Bridge Campground (Rockbridge County).
Most of the course is in Botetourt County.

IMPORTANT FOR 100K RIDERS

The 100K course doubles back on itself in three places:

  • Mile 32 & 52 – same trail section, not at an aid station

  • Two additional double-backs occur at aid stations

Highly recommended: Load the course to your GPS and review the route ahead of time.

ROUTES

Strava Route:

50K route

AID STATIONS

100K: Mile 17, 32, 42.5, 50, 59
50K: Mile 9 and 21 (same location)

Aid Station GPS info available here

All stocked with water, Tailwind, soda, bananas, baked goods, GU, and more.

SAG & CELL SERVICE

We’ll have limited SAG support—it’s a remote race, not a rolling bike shop. Be ready to handle flats and small mechanicals.

Carry your phone. Service is limited but not nonexistent. If you keep moving, you’ll usually find a signal. This may be your best way to get help.
